This role will be based at our new Siemens Energy Transformers Manufacturing Center Factory in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The facility is planned to be built by early 2026 for production commencement.
As we continue to grow and push the boundaries of what's possible, we are seeking a Winding Assembler with a passion for excellence and innovation in medium to large power transformer manufacturing. As a Winding Assembler, you will be responsible for performing final finishing of transformer windings, carrying out the assembly of the winding blocks and the documentation and quality checks of the process. This position is designed for someone who brings a blend of technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality compliance. As you progress in your job role, you would be able to support us in growing the department by assisting in the training and development of new hires in the organization.
- Performs finishing and assembly of transformer winding blocks, operates overhead cranes and forklifts, and conducts welding when needed.
- Reads technical drawings, validates winding alignment within tolerances, and performs measurements and inspections to meet technical standards.
- Prepares winding blocks for drying and pressing and supports the development and maintenance of technical documentation for winding assembly procedures.
- Training and mentoring new hires into the department.
- Planning and reviewing the tasks to be carried out according to pre-established production plan and manufacturing standards.
- Responsible to fulfill and/or to support to fulfill all protocols, policies, guidelines, and competences coming from all current system [EHS, QA, CyberSec, etc.].
- High school degree or equivalent with relevant technical training/experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in the winding block assembly process for medium to large transformers.
- Ability to use math, read and interpret complex drawings, and perform complex measurements.
- Applicant must be able to obtain Keys certification test on reading and writing and Blueprint reading test offered by local community college.
- Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain Forklift License and a Critical Lift level crane license and certification for working in heights.
- Successful applicants must be able to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests.
- Must also be able to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and/or written instructions in English.
- Must be willing to relocate temporarily to Mexico, Brazil or Germany for on-the-job training for a period of 3 months based on the proficiency in the area of training. Appropriate relocation support and compensation will be provided.
