We are seeking a motivated candidate to join our team as a water sample collector for a large public utility providing high quality drinking water to approximately 1 million customers. As a Sample Collector, you will be responsible for collecting water samples at sites throughout the treatment plant process and also our public distribution system while performing various field analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environmental laboratory supporting water treatment plant operations and to assist in protecting public health.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in any natural science or physical science, including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) credit hours in chemistry and/or biochemistry which shall have included a minimum if six (6) credit hours in analytical chemistry.
NOTE: Some examples of analytical chemistry courses are Mass Spectroscopy, Instrumental Analysis, Gas/Liquid Chromatography, Introduction to Chemical Research Technique, Spectroscopic Methods, Research credits earned using chemistry equipment (GC,HPLC, ICP, etc.)
- Collect various types of water samples to support treatment plant operations.
- Use basic chemical analysis methods to perform field analysis of water samples
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and treatment plant operators to ensure treatment plant objectives are satisfied
- Document experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of chemistry through continuous learning and professional development
- Expertise in wet chemistry methods for field sample analysis
- Ability to analyze and interpret data effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
