The Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling company-owned fleet vehicles and equipment, including light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, tank trucks, tractors, trailers, and related equipment. This role ensures fleet safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations while minimizing vehicle downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues through inspection, testing, and road evaluation.
- Repair, rebuild, or replace engines, transmissions, differentials, braking systems, suspension, exhaust, cooling, and fuel systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline fuel injection systems, electrical wiring, lighting, ignition, starters, alternators, and batteries.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with company PM programs.
- Respond to road service calls and perform on-site repairs or coordinate vehicle recovery.
- Safely remove, repair, and replace heavy truck tires (up to 125 lbs).
- Complete accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and DOT-required paperwork.
- Perform all work in compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and Hazardous Materials Safety Regulations.
- 2–4 years of fleet, diesel, or automotive mechanic experience, or equivalent training.
- PA State Inspection Licensed
- Valid CDL or ability to obtain CDL with required endorsements (hazmat/tank). Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mechanical repair skills.
- Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.
Safe driving record.
- Ability to lift and maneuver parts and tires up to 125 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work under vehicles.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, wet conditions, heat, and outdoor weather.
