Position Summary
ProEnergy is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Startup Electrical Laborer to support the commissioning and startup of power generation facilities. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to begin a career in the electrical and energy sector. The position involves hands-on work assisting electricians and engineers with the installation, testing, and energization of electrical systems on EPC power plant projects.
- Assist with the installation, routing, and termination of electrical cables and wiring.
- Support loop checks, continuity tests, and insulation resistance testing under supervision.
- Help prepare and maintain startup documentation, including test records and punch lists.
- Perform material handling, equipment setup, and general labor tasks to support startup crews.
- Follow instructions from startup engineers and electricians to ensure safe and efficient work.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all site safety protocols.
- Basic knowledge of electrical tools and safety practices preferred.
- Ability to read and follow basic instructions, drawings, and safety procedures.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Knowledge and/or experience with function, operation and testing of grounding systems, motors, MCCs, relays, transformers and switchgear.
- Ability to work in harsh environments, in stressful situations and during unsociable hours.
- Must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.
- Basic understanding of electrical tools and equipment is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
- Ability to read and follow basic instructions, drawings, and safety procedures.
- Physically able to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work in outdoor conditions.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl, stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet.
- Work at different heights.
- See and hear well with or without correction, to avoid safety hazards to themselves and others.
