Position: Underground Supervisor at our Rocanville & Esterhazy sites
Reports to: Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager
About the Role:
The underground supervisor is responsible for supervising daily operations, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards. This role requires managing a team of underground workers, ensuring that tasks are completed on time while maintaining and direction of site production. The supervisor will be responsible for helping build a safe work culture, along with oversite of the following tasks:
Key Responsibilities:
· Team Supervision: Lead, manage, and mentor underground crew members. Ensure all team members are adequately trained and adhere to safety and operational standards.
· Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations. Monitor the work environment for potential hazards, implement corrective actions, and conduct safety meetings.
· Operational Oversight: Plan and coordinate underground operations, including excavation, drilling, blasting, and transport activities, to meet production goals.
· Reporting: Provide daily reports on work progress, safety incidents, and any issues that may arise. Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management.
· Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as company policies.
· Training & Development: Organize and provide ongoing training to staff regarding safety procedures, equipment handling, and operational techniques.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
•Several years of hands-on experience in an underground mining or construction environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
•Familiarity with underground mining machinery, equipment, and techniques.
•Strong understanding of mining and safety regulations.
•Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train a team.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and management.
•Deep knowledge of safety practices and emergency procedures in underground environments.
•Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
