We’re looking for a seasoned transmission construction professional to serve as a Constructability Risk Advisor on our Transmission Long Range Planning team. We are seeking a seasoned construction professional to serve as a Constructability Risk Advisor for our Transmission Long Range Planning team. This individual will bring deep field experience to the front-end of project development, reviewing brownfield and greenfield transmission designs for constructability risks and actively influencing the design evolution to reduce execution risk, outage complexity, and cost uncertainty.
- Perform early constructability reviews of project concepts, plan/profiles, and design packages for both greenfield and brownfield transmission line and substation projects.
- Identify high-risk elements such as clearance conflicts, outage constraints, parallel line limitations, reroute feasibility, access limitations, and substation tie-in complexities.
- Collaborate directly with engineering, planning, and construction teams to propose alternative design approaches or phasing strategies to mitigate risks.
- Advise on appropriate outage scopes, build sequences, and risk contingencies for projects entering scope refinement or permitting.
- Participate in project kickoff, stage gate, and pre-construction planning reviews to represent field-driven constructability concerns.
- Maintain a library of lessons learned and risk examples from prior projects to inform future design standards and planning assumptions.
- Support development of realistic cost and schedule expectations during early-stage budgeting, informed by constructability insights.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and planners on practical field considerations for project design and execution.- 10+ years of transmission construction experience with progressive responsibility as a field supervisor, construction manager, or project manager.
- Extensive knowledge of brownfield rebuild constraints, substation cutover techniques, energized line construction, and outage-based build planning.
- Demonstrated ability to read and influence design drawings, including proposing viable alternatives for complex field situations.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative mindset to work across engineering, planning, and construction functions.
- Familiarity with outage coordination processes and sequencing logic for multi-phase transmission builds.
- Commitment to safety, constructability, and quality as core project drivers.
- Travel around the entire ERCOT region – 50%+- Former utility or EPC construction lead with experience supporting early-stage project design or capital planning.
- Understanding of CCN and permitting processes and their interaction with constructability risk.
- Working knowledge of Texas-specific construction challenges such as terrain, weather, and jurisdictional requirements.
