The Supervisor-GREC Maintenance provides direct leadership, direction, and technical expertise to a multidisciplinary maintenance team responsible for power generation facilities.
Key objectives include: Provides direct supervision and support to I&C/Electrical, Mechanical, and O&M technicians in the execution of preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance for power-generation assets. Coordinates and executes scheduled maintenance activities using both internal and external resources to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operation of assigned equipment. Such equipment will include, but not be limited to advanced class combustion turbines, heat recovery steam generators, electrical distribution systems, distributed control systems, high voltage transformers and generators, AVR’s, PSS’s, condition monitoring and machine protection systems, and various high speed rotating machinery.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Provides crew level leadership for the development of assigned personnel, identifying, and addressing specific training needs, and fostering a culture of high expectations, innovation, and team growth.
- Provide a safe working environment through procedural compliance, training, and safe work plans to safeguard personnel and plant equipment.
- Use prudent management to achieve high plant availability and minimize potential for catastrophic loss.
- Perform postmortem analysis for forced outages and equipment failures in assigned areas.
- Reviews, initiates, and maintains standardized maintenance procedures for assigned systems.
- Monitor inventory while ensuring availability of adequate and correct spare parts for critical assets.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of predictive/preventative maintenance strategies for power generation systems.
- Recommends, plans, and supervises the execution of planned unit outages. Ensures that work performed progresses as scheduled to meet performance and cost objectives.
- Perform and/or coordinate assessments and inspections to execute cost effective preventive maintenance strategies, design improvements, and major equipment component replacement.
- Using CMMS, generates purchase requisitions, creates, and schedules work orders. Monitors resource effectiveness through KPIs.
- Maintains an awareness of the latest industry research and practical application to drive continuous improvement.
- Odd shifts and after-hours work may be required under system emergency.
- Assists in troubleshooting complex issues and supervising repair activities.
- Creates, organizes, and maintains records for assigned oversight areas of the department(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Proficient in coaching and developing direct reports and junior team members.
- Strong knowledge of power generation systems maintenance, including but not limited to turbine/generator controls, boiler controls, and other complex distributed control systems such as Emerson Ovation, Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley, DIASYS Netmation, pumps, turbines, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, AQC systems, combustion turbines, heat recovery steam generators, aux boilers, etc.
- Functional competency with personal computers; prefer experience with Maximo, TK Pro, Excel, Access, and Word.
- Capable of methodical analysis of complex technical problems.
- Posses and demonstrate excellent writing and composition skills.
- High level of personal accountability and ownership of operations and maintenance policies and procedures.
- Ability to actively engage subordinates and other plant personnel to strive for operational and maintenance excellence.
- Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent work experience with High School diploma.
- Two (2) years of power plant experience in maintenance, operations or utility scale capital project management.
- In lieu of associate’s degree, seven (7) years of power plant experience including at least two (2) years of maintenance and/or operations leadership experience.
- Experience with advanced class combustion turbines and combined cycle power plants, preferred.
- Supervisory experience in power plant maintenance and/or operations, preferred.
- Contract and project management experience, preferred.
- Budget management experience, preferred.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
- Must be able to walk, climb stairs, crawl, work from ladders and elevated platforms. Must not have a fear of heights, confined spaces, or working around high voltage equipment.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 50 lb. on an irregular basis.
- Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. Manual dexterity is required for the operation of test equipment, small tools, and the installation, adjustment, and repair of control devices.
- Work locations range from an office environment to outdoors and/or indoors in a high noise/high temperature environment with possible work in confined spaces.
- The position is located primarily at the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Minimal travel requirements.
- After-hours repair work may be required under system emergency, system upsets or storm conditions.
