This role is pivotal in aligning our people strategy with business goals, enhancing agility, and driving a culture of continuous improvement as we scale. This position is also crucial to ensuring long term success by identifying and developing internal talent to fill key people leader roles. This position is responsible for creating and implementing succession plans that align with the company’s strategic goals, ensuring a smooth transition during leadership changes and minimizing disruptions to daily operations. By fostering a culture of growth and development, the Succession Planning/OD Principal helps the organization maintain a strong leadership pipeline that supports business objectives.
- Independently plan and execute complex tasks that support non-routine activities and project goals such as
- Develop and maintain succession planning frameworks and practices.
- Manage the overall operations of succession planning initiatives, leading cross functional teams to assess talent needs, and overseeing the development of training programs for potential successors.
- Collaborate with HRBPs and business unit leadership to identify key positions and potential successors, and craft personalized development plans.
- Conduct talent assessments and identify high potential employees and methods to develop them.
- Facilitate career development plans and mentorship programs for identified talent.
- Assist in the development of programs to foster a strong employee development culture and improve overall organizational health.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of succession planning initiatives.
- Serve as an advisor to leadership, provide training and resources for managers on effective succession planning.
- Assess organizational structure by evaluating the current organizational structure and identify areas for improvement to enhance productivity and employee engagement.
- Analyze the current organizational development and identify areas for improvement.
- Design and implement new techniques and strategies as well as change management plans aligned with business objectives.
- Develop an understanding of the business strategy and organizational structure.
- Create training programs and workshops to enhance employees’ skills and knowledge.
- Facilitate team-building exercises and workshops to improve communication and collaboration.
- Guide selection of appropriate methods and techniques in performing tasks
- Maintain high level of expertise through familiarity with processes and structures and applying appropriately to projects and programs including succession planning and organizational development
- Lead group meetings. Presenting results of work, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work
- This role will have broad expertise or unique knowledge and use skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
- You will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
- It is expected that you will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- You will create formal networks involving coordination among groups.
- It is expected that your role leads projects that enable the department/ group/team to meet and achieve goals.
- You will guide the successful completion of cross-functional programs.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
