About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Solar Permitting Technician to join our team in Carbondale, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the permitting process for residential and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. You will work closely with project managers, local jurisdictions, and permitting authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and timely approval of permits.
Key Responsibilities:
•Coordinate and submit permit applications for solar PV installations to local municipalities and jurisdictions.
•Review project designs, plans, and documentation to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and permitting requirements.
•Communicate with local permitting offices to track application statuses and resolve any issues or requests for additional information.
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to solar PV installations.
•Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, designers, and installers, to ensure smooth project workflows.
•Maintain accurate records of permits, applications, approvals, and other related documentation.
•Proactively identify potential permitting challenges and provide solutions to keep projects on schedule.
•Support inspections scheduling and coordinate with local officials as needed.
•Other roles in the company may be filled as needed based on experience, such as website development, marketing, photography, and other things.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Workspace, and some experience with project management software (Asana, Monday, etc).
•Reliable transportation to the office in Carbondale.
Preferred Skills:
•Knowledge of solar PV systems and renewable energy technologies.
•Experience working with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and utility companies.
•Prior experience in Carbondale or familiarity with local permitting processes is a plus.
