Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a variety of situations using the appropriate sign language system to facilitate communication between individuals so that optimum learning can take place.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who are mainstreamed into regular education classes (academic, support).
- Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at school functions and extracurricular activities.
- Interpret for Deaf and Hard of hearing students during psycho-educational and other evaluations by the District or contracted personnel.
- Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students/parents at placement or other educational related conferences/activities.
Interpret as assigned according to individual student or program needs.
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of Certification Level III - Missouri Certification & Licensure
Note: out of state certifications are subject to review/approval by District Administration and the Missouri Commission for the Deaf (MCD)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Educational interpreting experience
Completion of Interpreter Training Program
