Coterra is hiring a Senior Volume Controller in Houston, Texas
As a Senior Volume Controller at Coterra, you are responsible for nominating gas for all Coterra assets across the Marcellus, Mid-Continent, and Permian regions using applicable EBBs. This role manages daily volume tracking, coordinates with customers to address cuts and arrange paybacks, and prepares volume forecasts to support trading and optimize sales. Additional responsibilities include monitoring gathering and downstream maintenance, communicating with relevant stakeholders, and assisting with monthly accruals by entering volumes into the internal database. This opportunity is located onsite at our Houston headquarters.
- Attend Operations Meetings to understand upcoming drilling and TIL’s. Leverage knowledge of operations and facilities to generate daily and short-term sales forecasts.
- Coordinate gas sales information with customers, Trading, & Contract Administrators
- Monitor gathering system and downstream maintenance calendars.
- Coordinate maintenance events and unscheduled interruptions with Operations, gathering system operator, Traders, and downstream pipes to mitigate impacts and optimize production
- Analyze forecast compared to any existing pipeline imbalances to be carried forward and any other factors to determine the amount of gas available to sell. Track production and adjust natural gas sales targets and nominations throughout the month.
- Maintain minimum pipeline imbalances through coordination of payback and other means
- Communicate to Trading available daily gas for sale. Assist with daily optimization of directing natural gas to the best market. Work with downstream partners to manage the successful delivery of our gas to market
- Provide marketing options and contract support to the Exploration and Operations Teams. Maintain ongoing communication with Gas Control for directing gas path
- Enter and manage nominations on a daily and monthly basis in respective Electronic Bulletin Boards
- Monitor cuts and rectify with customers and traders
- Monitor maintenance events and mitigate with customers and traders.
- Post capacity releases
- Monitor force majeure events on both gathering system and downstream pipelines. Notify necessary parties and work with Operations, Gathering System Operator, Trading, and customers to resolve via most economic means available
- Obtain and verify end of month scheduled volumes and imbalances. Input end of month scheduled volumes into database for Accounting accrual/close. Work closely with customers and Accounting to resolve volume discrepancies.
- Assist in economic analysis for special projects for Marketing/Executive team. Assist in developing slides for each quarterly meeting
- Maintain and distribute various data and reports to assorted Cabot personnel
- Provide backup for other Volume Control Administrators as needed
- Familiarity with Northeast pipelines including Transco Pipeline, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Millennium Pipeline in particular
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to perform and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously

- Three (3) years of Oil & Gas Scheduling experience, five (5) or more years preferred
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
