Experienced Steel Designer Location: Alexandria, LA Company: CLC Engineering Job Type: Full-Time | In-Office

About Us: CLC Engineering is a civil/structural engineering firm based in Alexandria, Louisiana. We specialize in the design of high-voltage structures for substations and switchyards. We are currently seeking, immediately, an Experienced Steel Designer to join our team. Ideal candidates will have 1–3+ years of drafting experience and a strong background in structural steel and substation design.

Responsibilities:

- Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to produce full-scale and detailed designs

- Create drawings for foundations, steel structures, and platforms based on engineering input

- Draft general arrangements (plan and elevation views), grounding plans, conduit layouts, fabrication drawings, and detail drawings

- Calculate material quantities and assist with planning orders

- Ensure drawings meet project requirements and deadlines

- Collaborate with engineers and team members to maintain drawing accuracy and documentation

- Perform other design-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

- Certificate from an accredited Drafting & Design program (required)

- 3+ years of CAD drafting experience (preferred)

- Experience with AutoCAD (minimum 1 year preferred)

- Strong understanding of structural detailing, layout, and geometry

- Familiar with substation or steel design projects (preferred)

- Proficient in algebra, trigonometry, and geometry

- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills

- Able to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

- Must work on-site in Alexandria, LA (no remote work available)

Preferred Experience:

- Physical substation design: 1 year

- Steel design: 1 year

- Engineering drawings: 1 year

- AutoCAD: 1 year

Schedule:

- Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM

- Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
