The Suffolk County Water Authority is seeking a Senior Pump Station Mechanic in our Production Control Department located in Bay Shore, NY. The hours for this position are Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am-4:30pm with Sun/Mon off.
- Maintenance, repair and adjustment of water supply infrastructure, which includes:
- Hydraulic control valves
- Chemical dosing pumps
- Emergency standby generators (diesel and propane fueled)
- Water filtration systems
- Other pump station infrastructure (analyzers, piping, etc.).
- Daily assignments can be anywhere in Suffolk County, both at SCWA facilities and/or at roadside valve vaults. A company vehicle will be provided for work travel.
- High School diploma or GED required; trade school/college preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience maintaining mechanical equipment typical to the water treatment industry required; technical education may be substituted/considered for a portion of this requirement.
- Valid driver’s license required – must be able to obtain a NYS CDL “B” license with Haz-Mat endorsement.
- Successfully pass the Respirator Medical Compliance Program – NYS OSHA 1910.134 and NYS DOT Hazardous Materials Regulation 49 DFR 391.41-391-49.
- This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing as required by the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain a NYS Grade IIB operator’s license in due time.
- English speaking, reading and writing proficiency is required.
