We are seeking a skilled Senior Project Controller to join our office in Houston, TX. This role provides project management support services in the areas of project initiation, cost management, change management, progress measurement, reporting and project close out. The role also collaborates with project managers on the development and review of project plan, estimate, schedule, risk and contractual requirements. In addition, they will develop and implement project cost controls and monitor procedures to ensure the achievement of project schedule and cost objectives. C
- Review and provide input into Estimate and maps to the control WBS
- Set up control WBS and budgets in SAP
- Communicate control WBS to scheduling and contractor for reporting requirements
- Develop and maintain project controls plan for all key areas of project controls
- Review required project documentation during project assurance reviews and provide feedback to project teams
- Review schedule, provide input, and maintains list of project key milestones
- Work closely with project estimator and scheduler and provide input into baselines
- Ensure project has appropriate AFE funding
- Review schedule and other forecast drivers to update project time phasing for control budget and estimate to complete
- Complete requisitions for commitment of project materials and services
- Complete incurred costs reporting and variance explanations
- Monitor cost and committed to budget and forecast.
- Update cost management system with time phased data, contractor progress and project trends
- Review project invoices to ensure that costs align with incurred costs
- Analyze data to establish the differences in initial estimates during RFP and contract award
- Review contractor cost and progress and provide input to estimate at completion
- Work closely with material and service providers to define rules of credit for earned value management
- Monitor cost progress and performance metrics to establish potential and pending trends
- Evaluate and recommends allowances for design unknowns, escalation, and contingency
- Maintain project trend log and reviewing contract change orders
- Participate in HRIM and QRA meetings and updates budgets and forecasts accordingly
- Interface with project management, engineering, construction and procurement departments for project forecasting and trends
- Review monthly reporting packages and provide recommendations for improvement and projections based off performance
- Provide overall support to Intermediate and Junior Project Controls
- Makes project presentations to senior management as required
- Ensure all Administrative, Financial, and System close-out activities are completed
- Requires a University degree with 6 or more years of related experience.
- Advanced knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- SAP experience and understand both Cost Management and Project Accounting principles
- Full understanding of Earned Value Management, rules of credit, and progress measurement
- Field experience considered as asset
- Experience with executing moderate- to high-risk capital projects of different asset types
- Problem-solving acumen and experience designing processes and solutions
