Senior Electronic Engineer – Downhole Resistivity Tools (R&D)
Pioneer Precision in the Depths: Design the Future of Formation Evaluation
Tartan Energy Group Inc., a global innovator in advanced downhole sensing technology, seeks a visionary Senior Electronic Engineer to lead the development of next-generation downhole resistivity testing tools. If you excel at solving extreme-environment challenges and want to redefine accuracy in reservoir characterization, join our elite R&D team.
Drive the architecture, design, and validation of high-precision electronic systems for cutting-edge downhole resistivity tools used in formation evaluation, pore pressure analysis, and reservoir mapping. Your work will directly impact data fidelity in harsh HPHT environments.
· Lead Electronics Design: Architect analog/digital systems for resistivity, induction, and electromagnetic propagation tools, focusing on:
- Ultra-low-noise sensor interfaces (electrode arrays, toroidal coils).
- Multi-frequency signal generation/analysis (1 kHz – 2 MHz+).
· HPHT Optimization: Design for 175°C+/25,000 psi+ environments: component derating, thermal compensation, and material reliability.
· EMI/Noise Mitigation: Develop shielding strategies, guard electrodes, and advanced filtering to reject downhole noise (e.g., mud, motor interference).
· Calibration Systems: Design embedded self-calibration circuits for field-deployable accuracy.
· System Integration: Collaborate with firmware/mechanical teams on sensor arrays, telemetry integration (wired/wireless), and tool miniaturization.
· Validation & Testing: Execute HPHT chamber, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing per API 86/ISO 20675. Analyze tool response vs. formation models.
· Technical Leadership: Mentor juniors, review designs, and pioneer novel measurement techniques (e.g., multi-frequency inversion, 3D imaging).
· 7+ years in precision electronic design, including 3+ years in downhole resistivity/EM tools (wireline/LWD/MWD).
- Low-noise analog design (nV/pA-level circuits, instrumentation amps, PGIA).
- AC resistivity principles (phase, amplitude, skin depth, dielectric effects).
- PCB layout for mixed-signal systems (16+ bit ADCs, FPGAs, μControllers).
- Simulation (LTspice, ADS, FEM tools for EM fields).
· Proven HPHT design success (component selection, derating, MTBF >2,000 hrs).
· Experience with EMI/EMC standards (FCC, CE) and environmental testing (HALT/HASS).
- Telemetry integration (e.g., OFDM, DSSS for high-speed data).
- FPGA-based DSP (VHDL/Verilog for real-time signal processing).
· Familiarity with API 11S5/ISO 21475 for resistivity tools.
