Job Summary
The Second Shift Maintenance Technician is a hands-on leader responsible for keeping production lines running at optimal performance during the second shift. You will be the primary troubleshooter for both electrical and mechanical issues, performing urgent repairs, routine preventive maintenance, and supporting a variety of automated and manual manufacturing processes. Your dependability and skill will directly support BoMetals’ commitment to operational excellence, customer service, and growth.
Responsibilities
•Serve as the on-shift “go-to” for troubleshooting and repairing production line breakdowns—mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
•Support BoMetals’ core values—pride in every detail, own the outcome, and customer first, always—in every action.
•Quickly diagnose and resolve equipment faults to minimize downtime, maintaining BoMetals’ standard of relentless dependability.
•Perform minor preventive maintenance (PMs) as scheduled and document activities in maintenance logs or the company’s CMMS.
•Respond rapidly to urgent requests from production or shipping to resolve bottlenecks or safety issues.
•Communicate with first-shift maintenance and supervision regarding outstanding work orders, parts needed, or recurring issues.
•Ensure all repairs and PMs meet safety and compliance standards.
•Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
•Assist in the training of production staff on basic machine care and troubleshooting best practices as needed.
•Proactively identify potential equipment failures or process improvements and escalate to Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering.
Qualifications
•3+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing environment preferred)
•Strong troubleshooting skills: electrical (motors, controls, sensors), mechanical (gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics)
•Ability to read and interpret schematics and equipment manuals
•Basic computer skills for logging PMs and shift handoffs
•Willingness to work independently, take initiative, and “own” the second shift maintenance function
•Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to interact with production, shipping, and management
•Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for most of the shift
•High school diploma or GED required; technical school or certifications a plus
