JOB SUMMARY:
The primary functions of the scale clerk include but are not limited to weighing trucks entering and leaving the plant; entering appropriate data into the computer (price, product, weight, customer name, etc.); generating a bill of sale; collecting cash/checks, interfacing with company personnel and outside haulers in a positive manner as well as other clerical duties as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and procedures as set forth by company policies and MSHA.
•Follow all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations for safe working procedures.
•Operating a computer for data collection as well as generating sales tickets.
•Accurately and efficiently input phone orders.
•Ability to scan and comprehend important documents on a daily basis.
•Responsible for reconciling the cash report and documenting cash, credit card, and checks daily.
•Ability and knowledge to determine order requirements by working with customers.
•Answers inquiries by clarifying desired information; researching, locating, and providing information.
•Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions, implementing solutions, and escalating unresolved problems.
•Responsible for sending generated tickets, production, inventory adjustments, and cash sales timely.
•Responsible for overall housekeeping of the scale house inside and outside.
•Ability to comprehend and complete all needed paperwork promptly and accurately.
•Duties may also include other clerical duties as determined by supervision.
•Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
•Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Possess a safe work history.
•Have a positive attitude and proactive approach to our safety program.
•Inexperienced and/or new to the role (1 year or less).
•Basic knowledge of the APEX system.
•Positive attitude and excellent people skills.
•Quick and accurate data entry skills.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, and Outlook experience.
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
•Good safety, behavior, and attendance record.
•The selected candidate must work collectively in a team environment with co-workers and managers.
•Willingness to do other work as needed, including heavy labor.
•Willingness to work outside in all weather extremes.
•Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, overtime, and weekends as required.
•Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 75 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently.
•Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.
•Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
•Ability to use vibration-producing tools frequently.
•Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
•Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
•Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
