Position Overview: The
Sand Operator role is to maintain the equipment of the department, monitoring the operations related to the sand lab, and perform testing and calibrations creating critical reports to the supervisor and operations.
Primary Responsibilities:•Maintain sand mixers by daily monitoring levels of resin and temperatures and increasing supply of materials as needed
•Inspect and clean sand mixing equipment daily
•Operate and monitor thermal, mechanical, and all other sand transporters
•Unload materials delivered into corresponding containers or equipment
•Monitor sand storage hoppers and silos
•Operate and monitor the reclamation system through your shift
•Monitor trash and finished product transporters
•Operate and regularly monitor the sand separators
•Monitor mag collection transporter
•Start/stop new sand additions system
•Perform good housekeeping and maintain clean work areas
•Monitor coating mixing stations
•Maintain mixing and pumping equipment
•Alert supervisor to any safety or quality issues needing attention
Experience:
•Previous work in a foundry, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment preferred
•Experience operating sand mixers, conveyors, or similar machinery
•Hands-on knowledge of molding and core-making processes using foundry sand
•Familiarity with routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
•Experience following production schedules, safety protocols, and quality control standards
•Background in operating heavy equipment, including use of forklifts or hoists
Qualifications:
•Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of sand system operations
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
•Comfortable working in high-heat, dusty, and fast-paced environments
•Strong attention to detail and ability to detect material or process inconsistencies
•Willingness to work overtime on weekends as needed
•Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage
•Employment eligibility requires U.S. person status under ITAR regulations, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or other protected individuals due to export control requirements.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions
•Able to twist, stoop bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
•Must be able to lift 55 pounds repetitively
•Must be able to lift 85 pounds occasionally
•Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the work shift
•Must have good vision and depth perception
•Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Pay Range: $21.19 - $26.88 hourly (depending on experience)
Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
