The Markets are seeking a Retail Merchandising Manager to work with us on keeping our growing division of gourmet gas stations in their best form. The ideal candidate for this position thrives in a retail setting and is the functional subject matter expert on merchandising and price book management.
This role supports the functional integration of price book and POS devices and requires working in conjunction with the management team at the stores to ensure data accuracy. This role is critical to the daily business operations due to the processes directly impacted (inventory availability, invoicing, sales, audits & ordering).

- Delivers maximum sales and margins, helps control shrink and other operating expenses, and ensures that the stores meet targeted projections and goals through the effective utilization of store teams, merchandising, and available resources
- Works with suppliers and distributors to negotiate prices and order large volumes
- Collaborates with the retail admin team, marketers, and salespeople to set prices that are profitable and in line with the market strategies
- Understands the customer base, their motivations, and sales drivers
- Reviews customer feedback to predict sales trends and seasonal stock demand
- Monitors industry trends and consumer behavior to anticipate demand and changes in buying patterns
- Makes predictions based on sales data, customer feedback and market trends
- Partners with Food Service Training Manager to plan and communicate promotional calendar and timely ordering of materials for all stores
- Analyzes and presents post-promotion analysis for management, quantifying impact to brand and category
- Adheres to all Federal, State, and Company policies for compliance with health department, weights and measures requirements and liquor and tobacco laws
- Works with vendors to facilitate import files for purchases, new items, and cost changes
- Uses reporting tools to identify vendor discrepancies and non-scanned items
- Analyzes price book records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards
- Serves as subject matter expert on retail back-office solutions used for managing pricing, cost, contracts, and item attributes (taxability, EBT, brand, manufacturer, etc.) as it relates to consumer-packaged goods
- Oversees monthly promotion pricing processes across all stages of planning, setup, implementation & troubleshooting
- Partners with Marketing team to identify opportunities for new pricing, packaging, and bundling strategies, and promotions that contribute to the retail team’s strategic goals
- Directs and oversees resets at Market locations, as needed
- Experience using P&L to balance sales and margin growth
- Experience managing markdowns while achieving margin targets.
- Strong time management abilities, including planning and prioritizing workloads, strategic planning, both for the short term and long term
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of industry-specific trends and issues with an understanding of merchandising trends and industry best practices
- Displays a positive, “can-do” attitude and excellent customer service skills, both internally and externally
- Keen troubleshooting mind capable of root-cause analysis of problems with the goal of fixing the issue and improving infrastructure
- Good character, strong work ethic, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to seek out new suppliers and understand benefit terms
- Creative and innovative thinker with experience in preparing and delivering presentations to managers, staff, and suppliers
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- The desire and capability to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
- Proficient Microsoft Excel skills
- Capable of bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand and/or work in confined areas for extended periods of time

- Capable of working in hot and cold temperatures to use equipment
- Able to effectively communicate verbally and in written correspondence with team members and customers
