Department
The Quality department is responsible for maintaining the integrity of TechnipFMC’s Quality Management System (QMS) for Measurement Solutions, Americas to the ISO9001 and any other required regulatory standards and ensuring that all employees, at all levels, are aware of their responsibilities and roles. The department champions quality and provides leadership with the aim of gaining continuous commitment from employees while assuring compliance to our clients, regulatory and statutory requirements, and promoting client success.
Responsibilities
The position of Quality Intern provides an internship to a junior or senior level college student pursuing a technical degree or has a strong interest in manufacturing. The intern will work under the close supervision of a quality manager or quality process engineer in a variety of quality functions with the purpose of providing the intern with a well-rounded view of the Quality profession including: general understanding of ISO 9001 including procedures and work instructions, customer complaint resolution, root cause analysis and corrective actions, process variation resolution, auditing, gage calibration and management, First Article Inspection, warranty analysis, manufacturing assembly and test processes, document control, and interactions with the supply chain.
Main Tasks
- Learn the fundamentals of the Erie Quality Management System, Self-Managed Impact Quality and organizational safety processes.
- Maintain the Customer Complaint Coordinator role by providing documentation and facilitation of customer complaints to ensure resolution.
- Assist in functions pertaining to organizations control of documents and records.
- Become fluent in the Root Cause and Corrective Action process.
- Develop solutions to recurring problems by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating various precedents and data from documented nonconformances and process variations. Anticipate potential problems and takes preventative actions.
- Develop working knowledge of the tools (gages, inspection plans, audits, etc.) of the quality function.
- Support the First Article Inspection (FAI) process.
- Learn of and subscribe to industry related professional societies and trade publications to stay informed of and make good use of new technology, products and personal development opportunities.
- Understand ISO 9001 standard and application (as well as any other identified regulatory and statutory requirements).
- Understand how to identify the requirements of a specific process step and inspect the outputs per internal auditing requirements.
- Participate as a contributing member of various project teams by sharing opinions and ideas with others to achieve common goals; fostering teamwork and collaboration, while building trust.
- Typically a junior student in pursuit of a BS Degree in Electronic, Mechanical or Software Engineering or related technical field or has manufacturing experience/interest.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); engineering tools related to solid modeling, circuit diagrams, mathematical approaches, etc.
- Should have completed a significant number of courses related to technical specialty.
- Familiarity with working tools of technical area, for example, machine tools, hand tools, multi-meters, scopes, etc.

Work Environment
Office environment. Possible exposure to hazards such as noise, heavy equipment, temperature extremes, chemicals, etc. while working in foundries and factory floor. May use various hand tools to perform specific tasks.
Physical Demands
Spends 50% of time sitting and operating a computer or workstation; spends 50% in a shop floor environment.
