Job Overview
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the efficient procurement of equipment, supplies, and services essential to vessel-related operations. This role ensures that all offshore assets remain fully operational by securing high-quality materials at the best value while coordinating complex delivery logistics.
Responsibilities
- Needs Assessment: Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager, Port Engineers, and Vessel Captains to identify and forecast operational requirements.
- Procurement Management: Execute the full purchase cycle for all vessel equipment and supplies, ensuring timely delivery to prevent operational downtime.
- Strategic Sourcing: Conduct vendor comparisons and negotiate pricing, terms, and service levels to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Logistics Coordination: Partner with the Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to arrange the seamless transportation of equipment and supplies to designated locations.
- Financial Documentation: Manage the administrative lifecycle of purchases, including issuing and writing formal Purchase Orders (P.O.s) for all transactions.
- Operational Support: Participate in an "On Call" rotation to address urgent procurement needs outside of standard business hours.
Job Requirements
Education :High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of dedicated purchasing experience within the offshore or oilfield industry.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in standard office software and computer systems.
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems is a significant plus.
Communication
:Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective negotiation and internal reporting.
Organizational Skills:
Must be extremely organized with the ability to manage multiple high-priority orders simultaneously.
