The Product Quality Tech role is a vital part to ensure we are producing a quality product by implementing proper standards and physical test requirements to production. You will be responsible for insuring coatings are applied within spec and to help insure optimum paint usage through daily audits.
- Conduct physical quality testing.
- Maintain paint standard files.
- Responsible for various in-house quality control audit checks and testing methods.
As the selected candidate you will need to have great accuracy with details, regulatory, legal or requirement, timely and concise record keeping, in addition to the following:
- Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to speak with hourly production workers, management and vendors.
- Multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
- Must be computer literate, familiar with the Windows Operating system.
- Must be able to work various shifts in a plant environment.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with other departments of the plant concerning plant operations.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Collect and record data as directed by management.
- Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time to perform job functions.
- Read and comprehend instructions regarding new equipment, equipment changes, and/or procedural changes used in the area.
- Maintain established operating procedures and oversee all other activities of the coating line pre-treatment section.
- Check materials scheduled for the production process for compliance to set standards.
- Ensure that required panels/retains for warranty and testing are provided.
- Responsible for various in-house quality control audit checks and testing methods under direction of the Quality Control Manager.
- Monitor instruments and calibration schedules.
- Maintain color standard files.
- Change/file all charts where applicable.
- Spot check quality of production on a daily basis.
- Perform various tests such as cooking metal, punching metal samples, baking samples, and scraping paint off of samples.
- Routine maintenance and clean-up of work area and equipment.
- Titrate tanks.
- Supervise tank and pit cleaning.
- Repetitive use of hands to perform testing procedures. Unrestricted physical movement and handling of 55-gallon drums and 300-gallon totes with hand-operated drum trucks. Prolonged standing and walking to perform job duties. Ability to climb stairs when necessary. Lift/carry 30-50lbs when necessary.

- Periodic exposure to fumes from chemicals used in coating processes.
- Use of respirator required while performing some job functions.
- High school level reading and writing, visual acuity to read labels, meters, gauges, documents and instructions.
- Six months work experience in an industrial or warehouse environment with forklifts preferred.
- Ability to safely operate small manual and electric hand tools.
- Available to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, that could include weekends and holidays.
