The Process Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training programs that ensure Processing Department employees have the knowledge, skills, and competencies to safely and effectively operate heap leach facilities, the Merrill-Crowe plant, and associated labs. This role works closely with supervisors, metallurgists, and safety teams to ensure all process operators are trained to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety requirements, and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Develop, implement, and maintain training programs for process operators in heap leach operations, Merrill-Crowe processing, and laboratory support functions.
- Deliver classroom and on-the-job training to ensure competency in operating procedures, plant equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ensure training content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with operational and metallurgical requirements.
- Design and implement competency assessments to validate operator skill levels.
- Ensure all training meets regulatory, corporate, and site-specific health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Reinforce safe operating procedures and emergency response protocols during training.
- Maintain training records and ensure operator certifications remain current.
- Collaborate with operations, metallurgical, and safety teams to identify training needs and gaps.
- Update training materials in response to operational changes, new technologies, or incident learnings.
- Contribute to the development of SOPs, task training, and refresher training programs.
- Support initiatives to improve operator performance, efficiency, and equipment utilization.
- Work with Process Supervisors and Superintendents to align training with production goals and workforce development needs.
- Provide feedback on operator performance and readiness to supervisors.
- Participate in shift handover and operator development discussions as required.
- Technical diploma or degree in Metallurgy, Processing, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- 5+ years of experience in process operations within mining, preferably with heap leach and Merrill-Crowe circuits.- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering technical training programs.
- Strong knowledge of process safety, SOPs, and metallurgical fundamentals.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and across multiple shifts.
- Site-based role at a gold and silver heap leach operation.
- Requires both classroom and field-based training delivery.
- Close collaboration with operations, maintenance, metallurgy, and safety teams.
- Must be flexible to train across shifts and adapt to changing operational priorities.
