The
Margin and Strategy Process Engineerplays a critical role in maximizing refinery profitability by analyzing and optimizing refinery performance, developing margin improvement strategies, and identifying and supporting long-term planning initiatives. This position bridges process engineering with commercial and planning, ensuring alignment between operational capabilities and market opportunities. This role requires comprehensive collaboration across operating, technical and optimization teams and is key to influencing overall margin performance and broader strategic decisions.
Responsibilities May Include
+ Travel up to 5% of the time + Occasional on-call duties + Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays + Work around chemicals, including acids and bases + Work around hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat + Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection) + Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
The Wood River Refinery
is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
The base pay range for this role is $124,200 – $160,700 depending on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.
