This position supports all aspects of Maintenance and Facilities with the priorities and agenda set forth by Facilities Leadership.
Interacts with different levels of inter-organizational personnel, vendors, and consultants. Strong customer interaction skills, ability to identify and solve problems independently and computer literacy are critical for success. Working in a team environment is critical and providing direction to others with different cultural and technical backgrounds is necessary for success.
This position directly reports to the Facility Operations and Planning Manager.
The position is located in DeSoto and is not a remote position.
- Perform the maintenance, repair, and alignment of precision machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, precision grinders, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
- Knowledge in the use and application of complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
- Perform regular preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facility and production equipment and systems.
- Adheres to established industry and enterprise standards, policies and practices relating to safety, quality, schedule, cost, accounting, purchasing and regulatory compliance in performing assigned duties.
- Participate in the implementation of Continuous Improvements (CI) projects, space planning projects and capital projects.
- Willing to train less experienced technicians.
- Accurately document maintenance activities and complete work orders in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Conducts and completes on-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development.- 10+ years of experience with precision industrial machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, precision grinders, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
- Respond to service requests with little or no supervision and direction without interrupting operations.
- Understanding of lockout / tagout procedures.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of cutting, grinding, welding, and fabrication.
- Proven troubleshooting skills encompassing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Work with Planner / Scheduler to optimize preventative maintenance procedures and document maintenance activities.
- Working knowledge of electricity and electrical systems (AC/DC systems, relays, switches, fuses, breakers, motors)
- Team player with passion for customer service, problem solving, learning and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a safe work environment by documenting and correcting potential safety issues and complying with all safety regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Applications.
- Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and evaluate precision industrial machine malfunctions.
- Determine the sequence of operations, procedures, and methods necessary to perform precision skilled maintenance functions such as repair, modification, PM’s, and overhaul of lathes, mills, semi and automatic machines, precision grinders, numerical control machines.
- Determine and recommend major repairs to reestablish manufacturer's tolerances, alignments, etc.
- Perform functional and diagnostic tests of machines and equipment to determine nature and cause of malfunctions.
- Plan the sequence of operations and methods to use to disassemble, repair, renew, and/or replace bearings, shafts, gears, spindles, and reassemble and functionally test precision machine tools.
- Determine and perform precision measurements to achieve alignments required between operating machine components and machine axis.
- Determine rematching required for worn parts and layout and prepare sketches of such parts to aid in machining operations.
- Follow manufacturer's specifications, prints, and maintenance handbooks when available to determine functional requirements and to order replacement parts.
- Disassemble and determine corrective action required to repair or replace broken parts.
- Proficient in safely handling voltages ranging from 4 – 20 milliamps up to 600 volts AC, along with expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing electric motors and components.
- Proficient in MIG and TIG welding of various metals including stainless steel and aluminum.
- Identify, specify, source and order supplies and equipment.
- Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) systems.Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
