The Powerline General Foreman provides direct supervision and coordination of field crews engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground powerlines. This position ensures that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. The General Foreman acts as a liaison between field crews and management, playing a key role in workforce leadership and field execution.
- Lead and supervise multiple powerline crews onsite, ensuring productivity and quality workmanship.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed and that crews adhere to company and industry safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NESC).
- Organize daily tasks and allocate resources, tools, and equipment to maximize efficiency.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Manager to align field work with project schedules and goals.
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and job specifications.
- Conduct daily tailboard meetings, safety briefings, and job hazard assessments.
- Monitor work progress, inspect completed work, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Train and mentor linemen, apprentices, and ground personnel.
- Troubleshoot problems in the field and recommend practical solutions.
- Ensure proper documentation of work performed, including daily reports, timekeeping, and material tracking.
- Interface with customers, inspectors, and subcontractors professionally and effectively.
- Journeyman Lineman certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in powerline construction, with at least 12 years in a leadership role.- Class A CDL preferred.
- Strong knowledge of distribution and/or transmission systems, safety codes, and construction methods.
- Ability to lead and motivate crews in dynamic and challenging work environments.
- Excellent problemsolving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in reading construction drawings and work plans.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel to various job sites.
- Fieldbased role; exposed to outdoor elements and varying site conditions.
- Physically demanding, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
- Travel required; occasional overnight stays depending on project location
