This position is responsible for managing and directing the activities of quarry operations including but are not limited to safety, production, maintenance, quality control, service and repair of equipment. Assures quarry’s production levels are maintained safely to schedule. Closely monitors all areas of production to ensure that extraction and processing work is carried out to the highest standard.
- Responsible for ensuring plant is operating in the safest, most efficient manner and complies with all environmental regulations
- Responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of quarry operations.
- Coordinates regular site inspections to assure compliance.
- Assesses equipment, orders new materials, coordinates with internal and external maintenance to address plant and equipment readiness
- Assures that all vehicles on site are maintained to a good standard.
- Provides coaching and continuous, constructive feedback and general work direction.
- Conducts performance appraisals, salary reviews and development plans for direct reports.
- Provides training and development opportunities for staff.
- Follow all company policies and MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
- Knowledge to troubleshoot /problem solve issues with material quality, equipment operation or repair
- Responsible for monitoring and communicating production problems with appropriate managers.
- Ability and skill to accurately complete company reports and other documentation as needed.
- Responsible for managing the production process by setting and monitoring performance targets.
- Ability and knowledge to manage and regulate the quarry budget.
- Provide plant information and statistics on performance to supervisors and senior managers
- Maintains up-to-date records to include inventory, inspection systems and checklists, and financials.
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in related field and/or educational background - 3+ years demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills preferred- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong adherence and accountability for all safety protocols
- Willingness to work fluctuating shifts and overtime as needed
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and work at all levels within the organization
- Excellent verbal, written and comprehension communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships
- Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment
- Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100lbs. of weight frequently
- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
- Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces
