Job Summary:
NAES is seeking a Plant Maintenance Manager to lead all maintenance activities at a coal-fired power generation facility in Wisconsin. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, capital projects, and environmental compliance while supervising a union workforce of 20–50 employees. The Plant Maintenance Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team, providing direction, developing staff, and ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all plant maintenance activities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
- Supervise, coach, and develop a union workforce while fostering a strong safety and performance culture.
- Prepare and manage multi-million-dollar maintenance budgets; identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs while ensuring regulatory compliance (NERC/CIP, OSHA, DOT).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maximize utilization of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Partner with operations and other departments to support plant reliability, environmental compliance, and project execution.
- Participate in plant leadership activities, providing input on policies, procedures, and long-term planning.
- Proven leadership and management skills with experience supervising large teams, ideally in union or industrial environments.
- Solid background in maintenance management, reliability, and work process improvement.
- Knowledge of operations, maintenance, design, and construction of power generation or heavy industrial facilities.
- Coal-fired power plant experience strongly preferred but not required.
- Strong labor relations, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and general computer literacy.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, crawl, and climb (stairs, ladders, sky climber).
- Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. and wear a 35 lb. breathing apparatus.
- Work may occur in noisy environments, at heights, and occasionally in confined spaces.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in utility power generation or heavy industrial maintenance, including at least 1 year with responsibility for capital projects or O&M budget decisions.- Proficiency with computers required; CMMS system experience strongly preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license desirable.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
