Responsible for managing multiple states' regulatory operational requirements for transmission which would involve analysis of proposed and current regulatory requirements, strategic positioning, risk assessment, financial and operational impacts, and interfacing as needed with commission staff. Assist in the development of transmission policy, support IT development and lead/chair various system work teams to ensure all regulatory requirements are met. The incumbent has direct ownership for the development, education, implementation, tracking and monitoring of regulatory compliance in an 11-state jurisdiction.
WORK DESIGNATION - remote, preferably in Washington, D.C., or these states in AEP's service territory: OH, WV, VA, KY, TN, IN, MI, OK, TX, LA, AR. Other states and municipalities/locales may be considered based on payroll, tax and benefits.
Travel to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, PA, etc. is expected.
- Coordinate appropriate personnel resources as "subject matter experts" to achieve an optimal outcome on proposed regulatory requirements.
- Serve as transmission liaison between AEP corporate/state officials, Transmission employees and commission staff concerning regulatory matters and/or requirements related to distribution operations.
- Oversee the development of appropriate tracking and monitoring capabilities for regulatory standard compliance.
- Coordinate and respond to data requests and reporting requirements for transmission through AEP state regulatory organizations.
- Assess regulatory operational impacts and assist in the development of programs to those requirements.
- Provide regulatory advice and counsel in policy and employee incentive program development.
- Interface with the Customer Operations group to ensure alignment of both business divisions' operations with regulatory performance requirements.
Education: bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, economics, communications, or related field.
Experience: minimum of thirteen (13) years of experience working in progressively responsible positions. Strong knowledge in transmission operations, customer operations, and the regulatory environment and filing proceedings internal and external of AEP.
