We are hiring Plant Operators to participate in the startup and commissioning of the plant, train and learn the intricacies of the plant control system, and move into ongoing operations. Job Summary
The Outside Plant Operator operates, maintains, and repairs generators, air compressors, motors, pumps, compressors, electrical switch gear, loaders, ash and fuel handling systems, bulldozers, and small utility equipment used to provide utilities with power; maintains fuel in the fuel storage area including the receipt, handling and storage of fuel in a safe and efficient manner; ensures fuel samples are taken and logs and records respective data; performs daily and weekly maintenance checks; supports scheduled and unscheduled maintenance shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities
•Operate plant equipment in a safe manner following plant standard operating procedures.
•Receive fuel from suppliers and assists truck drivers with scaling and unloading operations.
•Use standard operating procedures to adjust manual controls or override automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating range.
•Read, understand, and comply with all company plant safety and regulatory procedures.
•Read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices to verify operating conditions.
•Operate bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment for the fuel yard.
•Ensure feeding systems are sufficiently supplied with fuel and are operating properly.
•Stack and blend fuel in a safe and efficient manner using chip dozer and loader equipment.
•Record data such as power, times, fuel consumption, temperatures, pressures, water level, flows, emissions, voltage loads, and other generator and equipment status indicators.
•Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
•Clean hoppers, conveyor belts, augers, chutes, filters, etc. to maintain operating conditions.
•Perform ash/biochar handling duties such as bin dumping, stacking and loading haul trucks.
•Train continuously to improve skills to safely operate all plant systems.
•Perform facility/yard maintenance activities, such as plowing snow and removing debris.
•Maintain a safe work environment and contribute to safety culture.
•Conduct work in a professional manner with respect for all coworkers, vendors and visitors.
Qualifications and Skills
•Experience as a plant operator or mechanic or millwright or electrician.
•At least 1 year of experience in an industrial setting.
•Must be familiar with the basic tools related to mechanical maintenance.
•Experience operating a forklift, man lift, or loader or willingness to be trained and certified.
•Basic knowledge of sensor systems, electric motors, and control switches.
•Demonstrated writing skills in English.
•Ability to use MS Office suite software.
•Ability to work collaboratively with a team to execute projects.
•Ability to multitask, prioritize and efficiently complete tasks sometimes without supervision.
•Strong interest in innovation in renewable energy systems.
•Ability to lift 50 pounds and sit and stand for extended periods of time.
•Ability to listen to and follow instructions and safe practices.
