Job Summary
The Operations Controller is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of pipelines. They monitor and control pipeline systems remotely, ensuring the continuous and safe flow of products while adhering to all regulations. This involves monitoring pressure, adjusting/controlling flow, and other parameters, identifying and resolving issues, and coordinating with various teams for maintenance and emergencies.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
•Maintain clear and concise communication with field operations and other stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of operational issues.
•Utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems - Must be able to visually monitor several computer screens in a control room environment for twelve (12) hour shifts. Must maintain a high level of mental alertness and be capable of quickly processing and reacting to incoming information from the SCADA system.
•monitor pipeline pressure, flow rates, tank levels, and equipment status to ensure safe and efficient operation
•Minimize drastic reductions in pressure caused by line breaks or other unusual occurrences
•Monitor system gas or liquid quality and take appropriate action in response to changes
•Compile, prepare, and/or post information including but not limited to:
+ Start/stop of receipt/delivery flows and compressors or pumps
+ Storage injection and withdrawal requests
+ Field callouts
+ Nomination confirmations and changes
+ Gas quality issues
+ SCADA system communication problems
•Adhere to safety regulations and environmental guidelines throughout the operation of the pipeline system
•Ability to work a rotating 12-hour day/night shift; (including weekends and holidays) and periodically work shifts unscheduled
•May perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
•High school diploma or GED equivalent
•Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Preferred:
•Experience with pipeline control functions, computer programs and equipment applicable to pipeline system control operations
•Experience monitoring pressures, volumes, and control points to maintain adequate gas or natural gas liquid flow
•Experience with and strong knowledge of natural gas or natural gas liquid pipeline operations

•Must pass pre-employment background and drug testing. Individual must comply with random drug testing.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works at an asset location or project site. While working at the asset location and project sites, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, uneven or steep terrain and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but, may become loud at the project site.
