The Press Stretcher Operator is responsible for operating stretcher equipment to straighten aluminum
extrusions and ensure they meet customer specifications. This role plays a key part in maintaining product
quality, supporting press operations, and working safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The following duties represent the essential functions of the position. Other duties may be assigned as
- Ensure aluminum extrusions have cooled sufficiently prior to stretching operations.
- Operate stretcher equipment using computer controls to select correct pressure and stretch length
- settings to eliminate twists and bows.
- Use blocks, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure proper stretching with minimal distortion
- and within specified tolerances.
- Monitor equipment during operation to identify potential mechanical issues that could cause injury,
- equipment damage, or product defects.
- Identify visible quality defects and properly segregate or discard scrap material.
- Assist press crew with handling tangled or difficult material as needed.
- Assist with saw operations to cut extruded aluminum to customer-specified lengths.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area.
- Follow all safety rules and practices and report unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor
- immediately.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate industrial equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, including weekends, as required
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the
- Standing and walking for the majority of the shift
- Frequent use of hands for handling, gripping, and operating controls
- Frequent reaching with hands and arms
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Lifting requirements:
- Up to 50 pounds independently
- Up to 100 pounds with assistance or team lift
- Ability to hear, speak, and see clearly, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and
- depth perception
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment that includes:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
- Exposure to vibration
- Occasional exposure to heat, humidity, and outdoor weather conditions
- Potential risk of electrical shock
The following PPE is required while performing this job:
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection (ear plugs)
- Gloves
- Long pants
- Steel-toed shoes (reimbursed up to the maximum shoe allowance after the probationary period)
