We are looking for a skilled and self-driven Mobile Fleet Mechanic to perform field-based diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on utility fleet equipment and vehicles. This includes aerial devices (bucket trucks), digger derricks, and other specialized equipment used in electrical line work. The ideal candidate has experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, understands DOT compliance requirements, and is capable of working independently on active utility job sites.
- Travel to job sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on:
- Bucket trucks (aerial lifts)
- Digger derricks
- Utility pickups, vans, and trailers
- Excavators
- Skid steers
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions systems.
- Conduct ANSI and DOT inspections on aerial and lift equipment.
- Maintain accurate service logs, repair documentation, and parts usage records.
- Communicate with the mechanic lead to schedule and complete repairs to minimize operational downtime.
- Ensure vehicles meet OSHA, DOT, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain an organized and fully equipped mobile service truck.
- Uphold strong safety standards and follow company procedures on all job sites.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in diesel or heavy vehicle repair is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a mechanic for utility, construction, or fleet vehicles.- Valid driver’s license (Class A preferred or willing to obtain a Class A)
- Clean driving record
- Experience working on aerial devices, digger derricks, and hydraulic lifting equipment is strongly preferred.
- Proficient in reading schematics, using diagnostic tools, and performing computer-based diagnostics.
- Familiar with ANSI A92.2 and DOT vehicle inspection standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
- Physically able to lift heavy parts, climb on equipment, and work in varied weather conditions.
- Field-based role with travel to substations, power line construction sites, and service yards.
- Outdoor work in active utility environments, including high-voltage areas and rugged terrain.
- On-call availability for emergency repairs may be required.
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, grease, and all-weather conditions.
