Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Metal Spinner with a strong background in aerospace component manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for forming precision metal parts using manual and CNC spinning lathes, ensuring compliance with aerospace specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role is crucial in producing high-quality aerospace components that meet stringent industry standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Operate manual and CNC metal spinning machines to shape and form metal components for aerospace applications.
- Utilize manual and CNC Lathes for precision manufacturing, forming sheet metals and tubular materials into aerospace components.
- Read and Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and process specifications to determine tooling, setup, and spinning techniques.
- Set up and adjust spinning machines, tooling, and mandrels to achieve required tolerances and part geometry.
- Monitor forming operations to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and structural integrity.
- Perform in process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other precision instruments to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Work with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot forming challenges and improve processes.
- Handle a variety of aerospace alloys ( aluminum, titanium, Inconel, stainless steels, etc. )
- Follow company and industry standards, including AS9100, NADCAP, and ITAR compliance requirements.
- Assist with assembly tasks as needed, ensuring all components meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
- 3-5 Years metal spinning experience is essential for aerospace manufacturing
- Strong understanding of aerospace materials and their forming characteristics.
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints and specifications.
- Experience with manual and | or CNC spinning equipment, programming and operation of CNC machinery is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with welding, heat treatment, or other secondary processes is preferred.
- Knowledge of quality systems ( AS9100, ISO 9001 ) and aerospace documentation requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and craftsmanship.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively is a plus
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication and quality inspection practices is preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up-to 50 LBS
- Standing for extended periods during machine operations
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work
