Responsible for conducting training sessions and providing instruction to internal and external customers to increase employee and customer competency levels regarding marine diesel and gas engines, transmissions, and related equipment.
· Conduct training needs analysis to determine specific training needs.
· Identify and source training programs/materials from vendors to provide in-house training programs.
· Ensure timely delivery of training materials needed for the course.
· Develop post-training assessment tools and evaluate students post-training for overall progress and reactions to presentations and exercises used to present training material.
· Assist with the development and implementation of new and refresher training courses.
· Conduct factory-level training on assigned product line(s) for employees, outside customers, and distributors.
· Provide instruction to students in a manner that enables the students to acquire the necessary skills as specified by the course objectives.
· Deliver training in a classroom and/or laboratory environment.
· Perform periodic examinations during the course of instruction to determine if students are achieving the course objectives.
· Communicate evaluations and test scores to appropriate individuals.
· Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
· Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
· Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.
· Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
· Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
· Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
· High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or three to seven years related experience.
· Prior training experience on diesel engines, transmission products, and marine equipment preferred.
· An associate’s degree in Diesel Technology or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and PowerPoint
· Volvo Penta Marine Engines & Systems Certification preferred
Prior training experience with diesel engines and marine equipment is preferred. An associate degree in Diesel Technology and/or Experience as a Sr. Technician is preferred.
