Black Box Manufacturing Inc. is a prefabricated metal enclosure manufacturer based in Langley, BC, serving utilities, mining, oil & gas, and heavy industrial sectors across North America.

We are seeking an experienced Buyer / Purchaser to manage sourcing and procurement activities supporting both production and project-based manufacturing operations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Source materials, parts, and components based on project and production requirements

- Send RFQs and obtain supplier quotations

- Prepare and compare supplier quotes considering pricing, availability, and lead times

- Negotiate pricing and delivery timelines with suppliers

- Manage sourcing of structural steel, sheet metal, electrical components, and fabrication materials

- Identify long-lead materials and coordinate procurement timelines

Purchase Order & Delivery Management

- Create and manage purchase orders aligned with approved project requirements

- Track purchase orders from issuance through delivery

- Follow up with suppliers regarding order status, shortages, or delays

- Resolve delivery discrepancies and supplier issues

Supplier & Vendor Management

- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships

- Maintain and develop supplier database

- Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, and delivery reliability

Project Coordination

- Execute purchasing activities based on Bills of Materials (BOMs) provided by Project Management

- Update purchasing details where part numbers or sourcing information are incomplete

- Identify missing materials required for fabrication and coordinate with Project Managers

- Add and track non-BOM materials required to support production needs

- Support Project Managers by owning standard material sourcing and procurement activities, allowing PMs to remain focused on project execution and technical scope

Qualifications:

- Experience in arranging freight within Canada and from Can/US shipments

- Customs documentation

- 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

- Experience sourcing steel, fabrication materials, or industrial components preferred

- Strong negotiation and supplier communication skills

- Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously

- Strong organizational and follow-up skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and purchasing/accounting systems

- Experience with QuickBooks or similar ERP/accounting systems considered an asset

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
