Pries is excited to offer a comprehensive Industrial Maintenance Apprentice Program tailored for the aluminum extrusion manufacturing environment. This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training to prepare the next generation of maintenance professionals.
You’ll gain the skills needed to install, maintain, and repair the complex mechanical and electrical systems used in our state-of-the-art aluminum extrusion facility.
- - Fundamentals of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Maintenance of extrusion presses, die ovens, pullers, saws, and handling equipment
- Troubleshooting PLCs and automated control systems
- Preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Welding, fabrication, and basic machining
- Industrial safety, LOTO procedures, and environmental compliance
- Reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Classroom Training: Delivered through Hawkeye Community College, covering theory, safety, and technical fundamentals.
On-the-Job Training: Learn from skilled maintenance professionals in our live production environment.
Program Duration: 24 months, depending on previous experience and progress.
- High school diploma or GED required or currently completing
- 18 years or older
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial work
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn
- Ability to work in hot environments and around heavy machinery
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work flexible shifts if needed
- Previous shop, trade school, or hands-on experience is a plus — but not required!
