Summary

Under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a machine during the production cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Operates and control machine settings
* Effectively uses overhead cranes to lift steel onto machine
* Feeds material through the machine, creating specific cuts/holes into the columns and/or beams
* Identifies and loads correct electronic data, AutoCAD files and machine programs to complete the setup for each job.
* Examines work and check defects regularly
* Completes and maintains any required paperwork, records and documents
* Checks work area for hazards
* Complies with safety regulations and wears appropriate PPE at all times
* Leaves work area in a clean/safe state when shift is complete

**Qualifications:** **Education and/or Experience**

* High school diploma or equivalent required; or demonstrated extensive welding experience
* 1-2 years of machine operating experience preferred
* Prior CNC programming experience is a plus

**Other skills**

* Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints
* Ability to understand measurements and use a tape measurer
