Primary purpose:
•The primary function of the Loader/Offloader is to assist Operations personnel in safely and effectively performing all required duties / tasks associated with loading and/or offloading tanker trucks and railcars. This position may also assist in station and pipeline operations.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Loading and/or Offloading tanker trucks and railcars.
•Monitor station for safety and environmental compliance.
•Responds to operating emergencies as necessary.
•Measure the volume of petroleum product in tankage by climbing to the top of the tank and measuring the height of product in the tank using a gauge tape, obtaining a sample of the product, obtaining the temperature of the product, measuring the API gravity of the sample, and performing the necessary mathematical calculations.
•Operation of various station vehicles including trucks and forklifts.
•Obtain samples of product manually from tanker trucks and railcars. .
•Perform laboratory testing of various petroleum products.
•Perform minor maintenance of station equipment. Items include adjusting valve packing, oiling machinery, greasing valves, cleaning and painting, and other basic maintenance duties.
•Perform clerical tasks necessary to document station operations and provide other departments with inventory and billing information.
•Perform housekeeping functions at station—sweeping, mopping, pulling weeds, and other clean-up activities.
•Perform duties associated with tank gauging or water draws.
•Assist maintenance technicians with equipment repairs as directed.
•Assist operations with facility needs including but not limited to operation and/or maintenance of equipment.
•Participate in special projects, and any other duties and tasks as directed by management.
•With proper training, qualification, and/or oversight may participate in assisting with terminal operations, pipeline operations, and right of way protection.
•Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.

•High School Diploma or equivalent required—Technical training and/or College a plus.
Experience / specific Knowledge:
•This is an entry level field position. Basic knowledge of pipeline construction and general mechanical and electrical maintenance is a plus.
Certification, licenses, registrations:
•May be asked to pass and maintain all applicable Operator Qualification requirements.

•Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.

Physical demands:
•Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.
•Exposure to smells and fumes associated with refined petroleum products.
•Work is performed outside in varying and sometimes extreme weather situations.
•May lift weights up to 50 pounds unassisted. Help should be secured for weight in excess of that amount.
•Employee must be able to gauge and climb tanks with 50 to 80 steps on a routine basis.
•Must be capable of manually operating a block valve up to 24” in diameter.
•Perform physical labor in a variety of extreme climatic conditions, including walking, bending, stooping, climbing tanks, digging, lifting and general manual labor.
•Work is labor intensive at times and involves repetitive actions such as stooping, bending, squatting, walking, digging.
•Must be able to use all senses (i.e. sight, hearing, and smell), with or without accommodation, in order to observe and detect irregularities.
•Job requires extensive walking on a daily basis in temperatures that can range from 20 to 120 F.
Working Conditions:
•8 hour traditional day shifts (but may be scheduled to regularly work nights or weekends as needed).
•Position subject to 24-hour call-out, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
•Overtime required and extended work hours in cases of emergencies.
•May be required to work alone (unsupervised).
•The majority of work time will be spent outdoors and the employee must be physically fit and capable of working in a variety of weather conditions, including desert hot and cold temperatures, humidity, dryness, etc.

Above the minimum requirement; not required but advantageous in this position:
•Prior experience requiring mechanical aptitude and skill is a plus
•Experience with light maintenance (mechanical, electric, electronic)
•Basic knowledge of cathodic protection
•Knowledge of piping, valves and pressures
•Knowledge of pipeline operations
•Experience with storage tank operations, including inspections, alarms and sampling
•Hydraulics experience desired.
