Labor Relations Specialist I will apply entry professional level work to assist
employees and leadership in the resolution of work-related issues and problems
by providing advice in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Coordinate grievances and administrative procedures; provide guidance on
administration of the disciplinary procedure and process and interpret the
collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the Division; prepare data/facts for
mediation/arbitration hearings; and investigate employee complaints and initiate
appropriate corrective action in concert with the Manager of Labor Relations.

and planning meetings with departmental personnel and external
resolution to employees, leadership, and officials based on specific events and
circumstances. Research labor matters that involve analyzing MOU language,
negotiation proposals and legislative issues; write formal recommendations; and
maintain computerized union cases/grievances. Conduct training classes in
areas such as the grievance procedure, progressive discipline, and other topics
as directed; assist in developing and conducting diversity and inclusion training.
Provide technical support to Human Resources Representatives and/or perform
various complaints, claims, charges, job placements and inquiries concerning
human resources issues as directed/needed. Assist in receiving, researching/
answering employee and applicant inquiries regarding Division policies,
procedures and rules; interpret labor/fair employment laws/regulations, benefit
laws/regulations and other departmental policies/procedures for employees. Stay
abreast of labor laws/regulations, arbitration decisions, collective bargaining
agreements, and current trends in labor relations by attending seminars,
conferences, federal hearings, etc. Operate Division vehicle and computer
hardware and software applications. Perform other duties are directed
Must have avalid driver'slicense from the state of residence.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Human Resources,
Industrial Relations, Juris Doctorate degree, or related area.
Must have 0-2 years of professional experience in labor relations or employment law related matters.
Must have computer software skills in word processing, presentation and
spreadsheets. Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or
walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis.
