The intern will have access to support and resources as needed but will have an opportunity for independent work.
The intern will assist the environmental group with duties as assigned and work with the environmental group to provide support as needed. The environmental department has identified opportunities in the following areas
- Sustainability program development

- Water quality compliance and document management
- Compliance inspections
- Continuous Emission Monitoring System Data management
- Groundwater monitoring
- Assist in onsite laboratory
- All the members of the Environmental Department will support the intern and help answer questions as they come up. In addition, the group will meet for 1-2 hours a week to track/steer project progress, identify tasks and additional resources needed for upcoming tasks.
- The intern is projected to work 40 hours/week for 9-10 weeks, beginning in late May, but some time off can be scheduled within that time frame.
- Develops understanding of Iowa air permit requirements and compliance documentation needs for multiple regulatory programs, including, hazardous waste, nonhazardous solid waste, Title V air permits under the Clean Air Act, NPDES water discharge permits under the Clean Water Act.
- Experiences regulatory review and compliance documentation processes
- Demonstrates ability for independent work (while receiving support as needed)
