Location: Northern Alberta (Remote Camp – 14/7 or 21/7 rotation)
Project Type: Earthworks & Civil Construction (Oil Sands SAGD Pad & Access Roads)
We are seeking a proactive, knowledgeable, and safety-focused Onsite HSE Advisor to join our team for a large-scale civil earthworks project in Northern Alberta. Working on a remote rotational schedule, you will be the primary health, safety, and environment representative onsite, supporting both field crews and management to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
- Lead and support all site HSE initiatives in compliance with company policy, client requirements, and Alberta OHS legislation.
- Conduct and document daily toolbox talks, hazard assessments (FLHA/JHA), and regular site inspections.
- Ensure all safety supplies and emergency response equipment are onsite, functional, and compliant.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance to field supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
- Support the Onsite Superintendent as directed, and provide the Project Manager with any requested HSE data or documentation.
- Monitor and enforce PPE compliance and safe work procedures.
- Lead or assist in incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action tracking.
- Ensure training and competency records are complete and current.
- Monitor environmental controls (fuel handling, erosion control, spill prevention) and report any non-compliances.
- Act as a liaison with the client’s HSE team and participate in daily coordination meetings.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in construction or earthworks safety (oil sands experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code.
- Valid safety certifications such as CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance, and Wildlife Awareness.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean abstract.
- Previous experience in remote camp settings an asset.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and adapt to changing project priorities.
- Rotation: 14 days on / 7 days off or 21 days on / 7 days off (depending on project schedule)
