Summary
As an HSE Coordinator, you will provide critical support to Certarus’ best in class HSE program as we aid in the transition into renewable energy across North America. Working within the HSE team, you will enhance our existing Health, Safety, and Environmental programs with the emergence of RNG and Hydrogen energy solutions. Aligned with our core value of sustainability, you will also be involved in sourcing and compiling key metrics for sustainability reporting initiatives. This position reports to the Lead HSE Coordinator.
Schedule
- This position holds normal business hours, with less than 25% travel to Certarus field and office locations in Canada and the United States.
- We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration at our Calgary and Houston offices.
- Leverage HSE data analytics and business intelligence tools to identify trends, predict potential risks, and develop data-driven recommendations that drive continuous improvement in safety performance and operational efficiency.
- Serve as supporting member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Prepare and distribute all JHSC materials and meeting minutes.
- Gather HSE performance statistics and support HSE participation incentive programs.
- Create and distribute safety bulletins and safety meeting materials.
- Manage all Certarus safety data accounts including ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta, Veriforce/PEC, and Energy Worldnet.
- Assist Lead HSE Coordinator with managing D&A platforms (DISA, TPS Alert, NCMS).
- Liaise with the Certarus sales team to ensure client HSE requirements are addressed in a timely manner.
- Liaise with insurance brokers to ensure all customer insurance requests are addressed.
- Assist with third party trucking contractor compliance with Certarus HSE expectations.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs as needed.
- Support adherence to company policies and regulations governing Certarus operations.
- Travel to Certarus field and customer sites for HSE audits, training, special projects, and to provide additional support as needed.
- Other special projects and tasks assigned under guidance of the Lead HSE Coordinator.
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is an asset but not required.
- Equivalent experience in safety program coordination, field safety leadership, or HSE compliance will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Preference for candidates with the following certifications in progress: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) – BCSP, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) – BCRSP, Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), NEBOSH or equivalent international certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a corporate or field-based HSE environment.
- Exposure to safety-sensitive industries such as energy, construction, transportation, or manufacturing is an asset.
- Familiarity with HSE data management systems (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, ComplyWorks) and a strong understanding of DOT and PHMSA regulations is essential.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to spot anomalies, inconsistencies, and emerging patterns in complex datasets.
- Highly analytical mindset with advanced problem-solving skills; able to translate data and trends into actionable insights.
- Strong organizational skills with a structured and methodical approach to managing data, workflows, and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to new software tools.*Certarus embraces diversity
