The Safety Coordinator will assist the Safety Manager in managing day-to-day safety practices for on-site residential projects, and our branch warehouses in Maine, based out of our South Portland branch. The Safety Coordinator will assist in training new hires to instill best practices and train in proper safety procedures. The Safety Coordinator will support Branch Operations Managers and teams to identify products, procedures, and equipment to assure the health, safety, and wellness of our sales, marketing, and operational teams. A vehicle will be provided with this position.
Role and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Conducts regular safety meetings, audits, inspections, and investigations to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments. Collaborate with HR, Safety, and Operations Leadership for inconsistencies and lack of compliance.
- Maintain a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondences.
- Provides relevant and meaningful safety content for weekly safety Monday morning meetings in each branch.
- Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs in small and large groups, such as discussing near-misses.
- Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations.
- Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety, and confirm project site fulfills
- Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies, and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices. Including following industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Participate in virtual and in person team meetings and perform on-site investigations and visits.
- Collaborate with safety team to maintain OSHA logs for each branch.
- Assist with performing accident investigation reports of employee injuries; determines cause and recommends preventive measures to Safety Team; assist the Safety Director with workers compensation claims.
- Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of industrial safety.
- Required - OSHA 30, OSHA 500, or OSHA 510
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred – Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Safety, or related
- Preferred 3-5 years of experience in the Construction Industry / Electrical Trades
- Desire to succeed and thrive in a dynamic work environment and a growing industry
- Daily travel required
- Clean and valid driver’s license
- Ability to climb ladders, lift 50 lbs unassisted.
