Position Title: HDD Lead I

Essential Functions

HDD Lead responsibilities: Verify locate marks and confirm location of existing facilities. Assist with clean-up and other duties as assigned. The Lead is responsible for maintaining equipment according to the manufacturer's specifications and safety guidelines. The lead must be able to operate the HDD machine or the ability to locate HDD bores using DCI equipment.
Roles And Responsibilities•Confirm bore path with install foreman and drill operator (including walking the bore path).
•Perform job site analysis (JSA) including completion of paperwork.
•Ensure there are proper clearances to install the product per standards.
•May drive equipment to job site.
•Oversee laborers and/or crew member's work and monitor time usage.
•Conduct post-job quality checks and clean up.
•Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork.
•Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork (i.e. Dailies labor hours, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.).
•Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
•Comply with safety procedures while driving and at the job site.
•Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.
•Provide leadership, guidance and direct crew on tasks.
•At the end of the workday, the truck and equipment should be returned to shop and secured.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Success Factors
•Knowledge of underground pot holing is a plus.
•Working knowledge of DOT regulations (Vehicle and Operator Qualifications).
•Understanding of client and company work specifications.
•Ability to comply with the "Operator's Manual' for your equipment.
•Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded.
•Ability to read and comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures.
Experience And Education
•2 to 3 years demonstrated Horizontal Directional Drilling Operating and Locating experience.
•Strong knowledge of underground utilities
•2 to 3 years demonstrated experience in dry utilities preferred.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
•Maintain valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A, with airbrake endorsement and tanker endorsement.
•Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
