As a GIS Intern for GreenKey Solar, you’ll be at the forefront of enabling clean energy innovation, supporting critical initiatives that drive sustainable progress and industry transformation. Your organizational expertise, proactive mindset, and commitment to excellence will empower and support our GIS team to focus on high-value activities that fuel exceptional growth in a high-impact industry. We are looking for someone to work out of our Portland, OR office for this role.
You take responsibility and initiative to get things done. You have a passion for renewable energy, are driven to tackle complex challenges, and see them through until they are done and done well. You thrive in an environment where creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity is paramount. You believe in learning continuously, growing with every experience, and driving solutions, not just identifying problems.
We are a fast-growing renewable energy development company on a mission to revolutionize the sustainability landscape. Our work directly impacts the fight against climate change while fostering small business excellence. With an entrepreneurial spirit, a dedication to innovation, and a commitment to our core values, we’re building the future of clean energy in the U.S.
Work collaboratively with our GIS Specialist and have primary responsibility for the following:
- Quickly and accurately enter data such as utility studies, landowner outreach responses, and solar project information to our GIS systems.
- Create new features and edit existing features to accurately represent current data.
- Using publicly available environmental data, parcel ownership data, and utility-provided interconnection data, select sites that could host future solar farms.
- Compile and clean mailing lists for these potential solar farm sites.
- Develop and refine workflows and processes, continuously improving operational efficiency.
- Proactively identify inefficiencies or gaps in current systems and suggest actionable improvements.
- Accountability & Ownership: You step up, own your work, and deliver on promises. You see projects through to completion and take responsibility when challenges arise.
- Creativity & Problem-Solving: Challenges are opportunities for innovation. You think critically, explore solutions, and never settle for the status quo.
- Curiosity & Growth-Oriented: You approach tasks with curiosity, a hunger to learn, and the drive to make processes better.
- Initiative/Self-Starter: You act before being asked, spot opportunities others miss, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Integrity/Transparency: Honesty and trustworthiness are your foundation. You follow through on commitments and build strong, transparent relationships.
We know that exceptional talent comes in many forms. If you resonate with our values and mission and have the skills to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply.
- Experience: Proven experience with ArcGIS Pro, including at least two college-level GIS courses.
- Skills: Editing and creating feature layers and feature classes, changing symbology, using the Living Atlas and other publicly available data sources. Experience with Google Sheets, Smartsheet, and Google Earth is a plus.
- Mindset: Resourceful, adaptable, and committed to excellence. You thrive in dynamic environments and handle multiple tasks with ease.
- Creativity: You bring a creative eye to problem-solving and event planning.
- Passion for Sustainability: You are inspired by the opportunity to contribute to clean energy and small business success.
- Please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining your GIS experience and why renewable energy matters to you. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
