Gas Fitters/Fusers install, inspect, repair and maintain gas lines and gas equipment such as meters and regulators. The Gas Fitter/Fuser must perform all Laborer essential duties and responsibilities.

Pay Rate: $23.00 - $26.00

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

- Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction and maintenance work

- Assists equipment operators by swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructions

- Works with specialized equipment including fusion machines, jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other industry tools

- Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials

- Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truck

- Cleans and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

- Performs plastic pipe fusion including socket, butt, mechanical, saddle and electro-fusion

- Taps and stops plastic and steel gas fittings

- Performs cathodic protection work including installation of anodes, test leads and pipe to soil measurements

- Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto and from trucks by hand

- Installs gas meters, regulators, piping and pipe fitting work with black iron pipe

- Repairs gas leaks including above ground meter sets and piping and below ground steel and plastic

- Keeps legible, hand-written, accurate records including daily work logs and installation records

Other Duties/Responsibilities

- Performs other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- One (1+) plus years experience working with underground utilities is required

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

- Fitter certification is required

- Possession of a valid Driver's License is required

- Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a Background check, and a pre-employment drug screen
