· Provides leadership, training and direction for all assigned USW personnel.
· Supports the Company by meeting specific operating targets and providing input to the planning process.
· Focus is on daily operations, with a high degree of interface with union employees and various management levels within the organization.
· Develops processes and solutions that optimize manufacturing throughput.
· Provides feedback to engineering for product and process improvement.
· Develops and implements continuous improvement plans for production operations.
· Perform any other work assignment as identified by supervisor
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS of the POSITION:
· Crew supervision is required on a daily basis. Facilitation and response to the requirements of production operators is imperative.
· Develops and manages the methodology to monitor and improve departmental safety aspects. Examples include, accident investigation, application of PPE and issues relating to air quality.
· Develops and manages the methodology to monitor and improve departmental housekeeping. Specifically as it relates to work-center organization.
· Develops and administers the methodology to improve the knowledge and core skills of people in the department. Facilitates their improvement through effective communication, skills acquisition and leadership.
· Develops and manages within the department budget. Considering target labor and supply costs, while meeting production goals. Utilizes proper department metrics.
· Facilitates the proper maintenance and repair of all relevant operating equipment.
· Establishes acceptable labor relations through interpersonal relationships and effective motivation of subordinates.
· Proactively solves problems with personnel, equipment and procedural issues on a daily basis.
· Supervision of all personnel in department and may be called upon to aid supervision in other operation based departments
· Specific knowledge of manufacturing management, including production and inventory control, quality systems and cost control. Experience with casting, extrusion and cold work material processes and metallurgy is desirable.
· Skills relating to motivating employees in a union shop are desirable.
· Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering preferred.
· 5 - 8 years of manufacturing experience, derived from shop floor or manufacturing technical positions.
