Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our dental practice. This role combines clinical support with front desk administrative duties, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient office operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical software systems, and a thorough understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. Bilingual abilities and prior dental office experience are highly valued to enhance patient interactions and team collaboration.
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in/check-out procedures using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms
- Schedule appointments, confirm patient visits, and manage appointment calendars efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage, process insurance claims, and perform insurance verification using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Collect payments and perform medical billing and coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation review for each patient encounter
- Assist the dentist during procedures by preparing instruments and ensuring patient comfort
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and handle patient inquiries effectively
- Perform administrative tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR)
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA by safeguarding patient information
- Support clinic operations through office management tasks such as inventory management, filing, and documentation review
- Prior dental office or clinic experience preferred; familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing processes required
- Proficiency in dental software platforms such as Curve , Dentrix
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management systems
- Knowledge of insurance verification procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding, and Medicare regulations
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities preferred to serve diverse patient populations
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in all tasks
- Certification or training in medical administrative support or office management is a plus
