To assist with the day-to-day environmental needs, as well as to be trained on permitting aspects related to:
The training period for this position is expected to be 3 months, at which time the Environmental Technician will assume all duties related to short-term/ongoing environmental compliance.
Daily Environmental Compliance: act as the liaison between mining, processing, and exploration departments as they relate to environmental compliance. The candidate will interact with all levels of company employees and management across all operational departments. Be onsite to assist with daily environmental compliance needs, specifically related to the maintenance of environmental best management practices. Perform daily checks on a rotating basis of all aspects of the site (active and exploration) and fill out the proper forms for documentation and use to satisfy monthly required inspections.
Once properly trained by Environmental Manager, be the point contact for internal questions and follow-ups related to permit status, timelines, and other queries related to environmental actions.
Monthly/Quarterly Environmental Compliance: During daily checks, compile necessary documentation/samples, etc. to meet the requirements of the Monthly and Quarterly sampling and compliance documentation. At the end of each month, compile the collected information in a spreadsheet and shared folder for final compilation and checks by the Environmental Manager. Assist as needed the Environmental Manager in answering any questions related to the data/results prior to the Environmental Manager submitting the final reports to the government agencies.
General Compliance: Follow up on any outstanding items, as they relate to permitting/documentation/status of submittals/etc. Perform such actions as field sampling, seeding, surveys for invasive weeds, and other actions. Assist the Environmental Manager with developing check sheets for compliance which can then be applied to all historic data. Perform a historic data cataloging exercise whereby all data available since 1994 be re-cataloged based upon the check sheets developed for fast searching, ease of environmental audit reviews, and statistical correlations for future permitting support. Interact at a basic level with regulatory personnel at the site under the direction of the Environmental Manager and other Company Managers.
The rate of pay will depend on experience.
